The Congress has a really great atmosphere; there are plenty of speakers and a lot of good stuff going on, such as updates on simulations and learning, updates on education in the various fields, empowerment. All these are actually key topics and highly debatable issues in the field so far.

Welcome

Dear colleagues and friends,

Welcome to the 4th SingHealth Duke-NUS Scientific Congress taking place on the 23rd and 24th September 2016 at Academia.

Held biennially, the SingHealth Duke-NUS Scientific Congress has gained prominence over the years with its objective to advance the scientific knowledge and practice of clinical care, education and research of healthcare professionals.

With the theme “Today’s Research and Education for Tomorrow’s Healthcare”, the organising committee has put together an exciting scientific programme with more than 40 multidisciplinary plenary sessions and symposiums, catering to an inter-professional audience. You can look forward to a line-up of highly esteemed international and local speakers who will bring us insights on the latest developments in clinical care, biomedical research and healthcare education.

This year, we have the honour of inviting two internationally-acclaimed keynote speakers for the Congress. Prof Victor Dzau, President of the National Academy of Medicine, will enlighten us on strengthening national health systems and improving global responsiveness to combat pandemics. Our second keynote speaker, Dr Edison Liu, President and CEO of the Jackson Laboratory will discuss on innovative strategies in an academic healthcare system.

We are also pleased to have received more than 650 abstracts from Singapore and worldwide. These high-quality submissions reflect a strong desire from healthcare professionals and students to share their research interests at the Congress. There will be ample opportunities for the participants to discuss, share and engage in stimulating discussions at the various scientific sessions and presentations.

We look forward to meet you and wish all an enriching and mind-stimulating experience at the two-day Congress!
