Assoc Prof Yong Keng Kwang

Chief Wellness Officer, National Healthcare Group


A/Prof Yong Keng Kwang started his career as a clinical nurse at 1200-bedded Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore, in 1996. He moved to Nursing Administration as a Senior Staff Nurse in 1998 to work on Division-wide nursing projects. He was subsequently promoted to Assistant Director, Nursing in 2002 after 4 years, and to Director, Nursing in October 2011. 

His current role has been re-designated as Chief Nurse in January 2015. In his years in Nursing Administration, he has been involved in strategic planning, manpower development, clinical operations, and quality management. He played key roles in leading the Nursing Division in the Hospital’s quests for ISO, SQC (Singapore Quality Class), JCI accreditations and in the transformation of nursing. He also served as an Improvement Facilitator in TTSH’s Kaizen Office from 2008 to 2011, and still serves as a member of TTSH Clinical Practice Improvement Program Faculty. 

Since his appointment as Director of Nursing/Chief Nurse, he chairs and oversees the Ward of the Future Project, where both the infrastructure and work processes were re-engineered to improve patient care through patient-centric designs, cubicle based nursing and inter-professional collaboration.

He was concurrently appointed as the Chief Wellness Officer in NHG to provide thought leadership and co-lead developmental and implementation efforts to enhance/maintain wellbeing of all NHG colleagues.
