A/Prof Phua Ghee Chee was appointed as Group Director (GD), Staff Wellness, SingHealth on 1 April 2022. The GD, Staff Wellness was established to further sharpen SingHealth’s strategic focus and commitment to foster a positive and joyful work culture and environment. A/Prof Phua supports the Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (Medical & Clinical Services), SingHealth in envisioning, developing and implementing staff wellness strategies, working in close collaboration with stakeholders across the cluster to drive and advocate an organisational culture supportive of staff well-being and engagement.

A/Prof Phua has a wealth of leadership experience and is a strong advocate for staff engagement and well-being. He was the Head, Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine Department at SGH, and led the SingHealth ICU Operations Group, responsible for coordinating the COVID-19 pandemic ICU response across the cluster. In addition, he has contributed extensively to Medical Education as Programme Director, SingHealth Internal Medicine Residency Programme, and as Director of Postgraduate Education, SingHealth Duke-NUS Medicine Academic Clinical Programme. In all the roles he has undertaken, A/Prof Phua has consistently displayed a strong commitment to staff engagement and development, whether in promoting and advancing academic medicine through the nurturing of education leaders and faculty, or in engaging residents to ensure their well-being and to foster a sense of community. A/Prof Phua has also proactively implemented a wide range of staff wellness initiatives and is Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO, Hospital Experience) in SGH.
