Michael has spent the last 20 years as a leader of leadership development institutes. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore Business School, and the lead faculty for The Future of Work module of the NUS EMBA programme. 

Michael was Director of Executive Education on the INSEAD Asia campus; he set up the Asia Pacific headquarters of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in Singapore. Michael has been a coach on leadership programmes for INSEAD, CCL, Roffey Park Institute, the Human Capital Institute and NUS Business School and in many different private, public, and not-for-profit contexts. He taught on the Asian Financial Leaders Programme and the Leaders Programme (primarily for Temasek Portfolio Companies) plus a range of company-specific programmes. 

Michael served as a Board Member of the IHRP (Institute of Human Resource Professionals) and was 

Deputy Chair of the Professional Development Committee (IHRP). He currently serves as a judge for the annual SHRI (Singapore Human Resources Institute) HR Awards.

He was named by the UK’s HR Magazine as a Most Influential Thinker in HR for 2013 and again in 2016. In 2023 Michael was included as one of the top three HR Influencers in SE Asia by ETHRWorld Southeast
