My Nursing Journey:

I joined nursing in 2009 and worked in a few paediatric disciplines before specialising in paediatric oncology and bone marrow transplantation. Not only does this role involve improving of our patients’ physical health, it also involves caring for them emotionally. But the greatest satisfaction comes from seeing them after their treatments have completed, and knowing that I have made a positive difference in their lives.

As a nurse clinician, I perform duties that range from direct patient care to leading and mentoring staff nurses. In my daily clinical work, I provide an advanced level of specialised nursing care to patients undergoing intensive oncology treatment and haematopoietic stem cell transplant. I am also actively involved in coaching and mentoring nurses to help them grow into a team of confident and competent oncology nurses who are able to provide quality patient care. Hence, I regularly conduct educational sessions to increase the nursing team’s knowledge and skills.

My passion in doing the best for my patients has spurred me to lead research and quality improvement projects too. Beyond Singapore, I have participated in global and health outreach nursing programmes as well as worked with nurses in the Asia Pacific region to support nursing training and education for paediatric oncology.

I am thankful for the fulfilling nursing journey with SingHealth as a Nurse Clinician as it has given me many opportunitiess to lead in many areas as well as grow in my nursing, research and management skills.
