Presentation Synopsis
HM 9 - Connecting the dots – Abuse and Harassment in the Healthcare Ecosystem
Impact of Abuse & Harassment on the Healthcare Ecosystem
Abusive and harassing patients not only causes risk to staff, in term of physical / motivation / emotion, but the whole healthcare system and other patients. E.g. When staff are emotionally affected, they can make mistakes and become unmotivated and will not provide good care; time taken to deal with an abusive encounter is time taken away from care of other patients etc. The TWG Framework was developed with input from stakeholders to address the increasing burden of abuse and harassment in healthcare.
